Noah Kahan eyes second Number 1 album as Michael Jackson biopic charges up the charts

The Official Albums Chart Update reveals a high-stakes race for the top spot this week, with Vermont singer-songwriter Noah Kahan currently leading the pack. His fourth studio album, The Great Divide, is the mid-week frontrunner for Number 1. If it maintains its momentum, it will mark Kahan’s second UK chart-topper, following the monumental success of 2022’s Stick Season, which just celebrated its 150th week in the Top 100.

However, the race is far from over. Close on Kahan’s heels are the Foo Fighters, whose comeback record Your Favorite Toy is currently sitting at Number 2. This 12th studio set is aiming to become the legendary six-piece’s seventh UK Number 1 album.

Following the theatrical release of the highly anticipated biopic Michael, the King of Pop is making a major impact on the standings. Four Michael Jackson records are currently tracking to land inside the Top 40. The soundtrack, Michael: Songs From The Motion Picture, leads the charge at Number 4, followed by the Number Ones compilation (7), the record-breaking Thriller (18), and the classic Bad (22).

Paul Weller is also eyeing a significant achievement. His live collection, Weller At The BBC Vol. 2, is currently on course for a Number 5 debut, which would secure the former The Jam frontman an incredible 25th solo Top 10 album. Elsewhere, Pink Floyd’s Live From The Los Angeles Sports Arena, April 26th, 1975 is set for a fresh appearance at Number 9 following its standalone physical release.

The elusive Lausse The Cat is eyeing his first-ever chart entry with The Mocking Stars (10) thanks to new vinyl variants. Further down the chart, Kehlani looks set for her third Top 40 entry with her self-titled album (29), while Ringo Starr could secure his first Top 40 appearance since 2007 with Long Long Road (31). Finally, rock legends Status Quo are proving their longevity, potentially bagging their 44th Top 40 album with Live At Hammersmith ‘79 (32).
