Normani: I feel more creative than ever

Normani feels “more motivated and inspired than ever”.

The 29-year-old singer released her debut solo album, Dopamine, back in 2024 – but Normani has now revealed that she feels “more creative than ever”.

The former Fifth Harmony star – who is engaged to NFL star DK Metcalf – told Sports Illustrated: “I feel more motivated and inspired than ever. And, you know, since I put out [Dopamine], a lot has changed.

“I’ve been going through so many major life transitions that I’m really, really excited for, and I see so much beauty in [them], and I’m just enjoying the journey and the process in those transitions. And so, for me, the sky really is the limit.”

Normani confirmed that “new music is in the works” and she can’t wait for her fans to hear what she’s been working on.

The Motivation hitmaker also explained that she’s “taking it back to [her] roots a little bit” with her new material.

Normani teased: “You know, I pay attention to my fans.

“I might not be the best when it comes to social media, and I’ve made that vow to myself that I am going to be better at that – not only for myself, but also for the people who support me and my fans – but I pay close attention, and I see their responses. I see what they want and what their desires are for me. I’m taking it back to my roots a little bit as well.”

Meanwhile, Normani previously confessed to battling self-doubts while making her debut solo album.

The singer embarked on a solo career after Fifth Harmony announced their hiatus in 2018 – but Normani faced lots of challenges and delays before she was able to release Dopamine.

During an appearance on the Zach Sang Show, Normani explained: “I deserve to enjoy what I’m doing, and I would definitely say that I wish I enjoyed this process a lot more than I did.

“But there were so many different … things attached to it. So next time I’m going to be like, ‘No, I’m going to have the best time ever.'”
