Universal Music Group UK (UMG UK) orchestrated a triumphant takeover of Manchester this weekend, celebrating a sweep of major categories at the 2026 BRIT Awards. The festivities culminated in a star-studded after-party at The Ivy Spinningfields, where the industry’s elite gathered to toast a landmark year for British music.

The evening belonged to Olivia Dean (Capitol Records UK), who reigned supreme with three individual wins for Artist of the Year, Pop Act, and the prestigious Mastercard Album of the Year for The Art of Loving. Dean’s historic night—fresh off her Best New Artist win at the Grammys—was bolstered by a fourth trophy for Song of the Year for “Rein Me In,” her chart-topping collaboration with Sam Fender.

Fender (Polydor) further cemented his status as a titan of the “New North,” taking home Alternative/Rock Act. The win marks a career-high for the singer, following his 2025 Mercury Prize victory. Joining the winners’ circle were Island Records breakouts Lola Young, who was named Breakthrough Artist following her own recent Grammy success, and Jacob Alon, who collected the Critics’ Choice prize. Additionally, Dave (Neighbourhood Recordings) secured the Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act award, rounding out a dominant showing for the UMG stable.

The celebration at The Ivy saw winners mingling with a high-profile guest list including Jeff Goldblum, Holly Humberstone, Self Esteem, and Harris Dickinson. The night’s soundtrack was curated by a rotating lineup of DJs, including Femi of Ezra Collective and Manchester legend Bez.

Dickon Stainer, Chairman & CEO of Universal Music Group UK & Ireland, described the night as a “statement of intent,” noting that the success of Dean, Fender, and Young signals a formidable new wave of British artistry on the global stage. The weekend’s events also included a Pre-BRITs Showcase at Aviva Studios, featuring rising stars like FLO and DECEMBER 10, ensuring that while the awards recognized current icons, the company is already spotlighting the headliners of tomorrow.
