The ARIAS are the UK’s premier accolades for the audio and radio industry, evolving from the original Sony Radio Awards established in 1983. This year’s nominees were announced at a high-profile industry event at Spotify’s London headquarters, featuring a diverse mix of national broadcasters and independent creators.
The 2026 shortlist highlights the sheer breadth of the UK’s audio landscape. Competition is particularly fierce in the podcasting sectors, where The Louis Theroux Podcast and British Scandal face off against comedy heavyweights like French & Saunders: Titting About and Sh*gged, Married, Annoyed.
In the music and entertainment categories, familiar names such as Romesh Ranganathan, Greg James, and Tyler West have secured nods. Meanwhile, the “Best New Presenter” category features an eclectic mix of talent, including global indie icon Beth Ditto and television personality Gok Wan.
The 21 award categories represent the entire spectrum of the medium, from major networks like the BBC and Bauer Media to niche stations like Fix Radio. Global platforms such as Apple Music Radio and Audible are also well-represented alongside independent powerhouses like Persephonica and the Prison Radio Association.
Host Rylan expressed his excitement for the upcoming gala: “This night is all about celebrating the best of radio and audio and how much it means to people around the country. I look forward to announcing our winners under that famous circular roof at the Roundhouse.”
Tickets for the ARIAS 2026 go on sale Thursday, April 23, via the official Audio Academy website. As the industry gathers in May to celebrate a decade of the ARIAS, the event remains the gold standard for recognizing the creative talent shaping the future of sound.
