Sabrina Carpenter fell on a cactus and hurt herself while filming the music video for Manchild.

The promo is nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Music Video at next year’s ceremony, and given the ordeal she went through, including 37 outfit changes, a win would make it all worthwhile.

Appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers, she told the host: “I fell on a cactus.

“It’s so easy to laugh when people get hurt. And I did. But then I started crying.”

She continued: “There was a medic. I just for the rest of the day was picking s*** out of…”

Sabrina said of the process: “I’ll be honest, that shoot was so ambitious. We shot 37 outfits.

That was probably my biggest shoot I’ve ever done. I’m so grateful to be able to make that production of my dreams. But it was definitely… We endured a lot of pain to get the finished product.”

On the reaction to the video, she concluded: “I really like that because I think — I make pop music and sometimes you don’t expect to see those visuals in a song like that. So that one means a lot to me. I’m very excited that everyone has liked the video.”

The 26-year-old pop star has three more chances to bag a Grammy with Manchild from her album Man’s Best Friend, as it’s also in contention for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.

Sabrina shocked fans with the artwork for Man’s Best Friend, which shows her on all fours in front of a man pulling her hair.

Upon the release of Manchild, Sabrina thanked “men for testing me”.

She posted on Instagram: “i wrote manchild on a random tuesday with amy and jack not too long after finishing short n’ sweet and it ended up being the best random tuesday of my life

“not only was it so fun to write, but this song became to me something I can look back on that will score the mental montage to the very confusing and fun young adult years of life.

“it sounds like the song embodiment of a loving eye roll and it feels like a never ending road trip in the summer !

“hence why i wanted to give it to you now- so you can stick your head out the car window and scream it all summer long! (sic)”
