The Guess Who Announce Extensive United States Reunion Tour

The Guess Who — featuring core members Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman — are hitting the road this summer for their first U.S. tour in 24 years. The run kicks off June 25 in Shakopee, Minnesota, and wraps up Aug. 22 in Seattle. (It’s bookended by shows in their native Canada.) Former Eagles guitarist Don Felder will serve as the opening act.

“Randy and I are incredibly grateful that our music has endured all these years,” Bachman said in a statement. “Knowing that people still want to hear these songs live means everything to us, and when we go out on stage, our goal is to truly honour the music.”

Cummings added: “I’m really excited about reuniting with Burton and touring again as the Guess Who. We created an amazing body of work together, along with memories that have lasted for decades, and those songs are still as strong as ever. I can’t wait to sing them with everyone very soon.”

Up until this year, Cummings and Bachman hadn’t performed as the Guess Who since SARSfest in 2003. In the years that followed, former Guess Who bassist Jim Kale put together a new lineup that sparked a bitter legal fight that wasn’t resolved until 2024 when Cummings and Bachman reclaimed the name rights.

“The fake band was using music that we wrote, and Burton sang on, to promote their shows,” Cummings recently told Rolling Stone. “And some of these guys weren’t even born when those things were hits. These clowns, they were actually taking our real albums to meet and greets and signing our pictures. I was in Philadelphia one time and I opened a Live at the Paramount album. I was going to sign it for this kid. And I opened the album and someone else had already signed my picture.”

The new lineup of the Guess Who — which also includes drummer Sean Fitzsimons, bassist Jeff Jones, percussionist Nick Sinopoli, and guitarists Tim Bovaconti and Joe Augello — played their first show Jan. 31 in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The set is heavy on classics like “American Woman,” “These Eyes,” “Undun,” and “No Time” in addition to the Bachman-Turner Overdrive classics “Let It Ride,” “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet,” and “Takin’ Care of Business.”

Editor’s picks

There hasn’t been a new Guess Who album since 1975’s Power in the Music, and the last one to feature Bachman was 1970’s American Woman. That remains unlikely to change in the near future since the focus is on touring, but they aren’t ruling it out. “Randy and I will be together for hours and hours on the tour bus,” Cummings recently told Rolling Stone. “Sometimes he picks up a guitar, starts playing riffs, and I start singing over them. So we could capture some of that wonder of the old days. You never know. I never say never.”
