Steve Lacy announces new album ‘Oh Yeah?’ with moody single ‘The Feeling’

Steve Lacy has announced a new album and shared the first single from the record, ‘The Feeling’.

‘Oh Yeah?’ is the third LP from the Grammy-winning artist, producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist following his critically acclaimed sophomore 2022 album, ‘Gemini Rights’ and 2019 breakthrough LP ‘Apollo XXI’.

The album is set to drop on July 17 via RCA Records and can be pre-ordered here. It is his first new material since last year’s ‘Nice Shoes’.

As a taster, Lacy has shared moody, synth single ‘The Feeling’, which you can listen to below.

According to a press release, the album is “the culmination of a four year journey whereupon Steve found himself feeling at home in foreign countries and situations and less at home at home”.

It adds: “It’s a record for guitar kids who love synths and synth kids who love guitars. It’s an album splashed with raw openness, energetic connection, sonic beauty, and some of Lacy’s most personal, transparent lyrics.”

‘Gemini Rights’ was given a glowing four-star review from NME, which said that his songs “remain seriously steamy”, but have become “more refined and vibrant than ever”.

“Considering the sometimes-radical experimentation that was heard on his debut (‘Apollo XXI’’s second song ‘Like Me’, for instance, clocked in at nine minutes), Lacy has heeded Missy Elliot’s wisdom on his second LP in his own way,” it read.

“While his solo music and work with The Internet have infiltrated the mainstream in more discreet ways, ‘Gemini Rights’, which feature his most direct compositions yet, will make the ‘cult artist’ tag surrounding Lacy increasingly redundant.”

Last year’s single ‘Nice Shoes’ also made it into Number 38 in NME’s 50 Best Songs Of 2025.

Summing it up, we said: “Perhaps it’s the tinny synth line and addictive breakbeat, or the stark lyrics, dotted with quotables and chanted like he’s a post-punk frontman: ‘Nice Shoes’ proves Steve Lacy doesn’t need much to make a great song. He’s called it a “trailer” for his next album, ‘Oh Yeah?’ – and anticipation is sky-high.”
