Suu Morishita’s Yubisaki to Renren Vol. 14 hits No. 1 on the Billboard Japan Book Hot 100 released May 21, marking the first time the series tops the list.

The latest volume of the love story between Yuki, a deaf college student, and her upperclassman Itsuomi scores No. 1 in e-books, No. 3 in brick-and-mortar and No. 11 in e-commerce (EC), with additional points in social media.

Debuting at No. 2 is Tensei Kizoku no Isekai Bokenroku Vol. 15, a manga adaptation of the popular fantasy novel series. Mamoru Nagano’s The Five Star Stories Vol. 19, which placed No. 5 last week, rises to No. 3 after leading the brick-and-mortar metric. The series celebrates its 40th anniversary of serialization in the monthly Gekkan Newtype magazine this year.

Ryo Asai’s In The Megachurch, winner of the 2026 Hon’ya Taisho (Japan Booksellers’ Award), holds in the top 5 for another week at No. 4, with three metrics in the top 10: No. 1 in social media, No. 2 in subscriptions and No. 7 in brick-and-mortar. Actor Keita Machida’s first photobook in six years, KEITA MACHIDA 15th Anniversary Photobook “sign,” leads the EC metric and enters at No. 8.

Kimi no Quiz (Your Own Quiz) jumps from outside the top 20 to No. 11, following the theatrical release on May 15 of the live-action feature film adaptation of the novel. The book set in the world of quiz shows won the 76th Mystery Writers of Japan Award for Best Novel and Short Story in 2023.
