The Cure play deep cuts and fan favourites during Open’er Festival 2026 headline set

In partnership with Open’er Festival

The Cure headlined the third day of Poland’s Open’er Festival last night (July 3), performing a mix of rarely-played deep cuts and iconic fan favourites – check out the full setlist below:

Open’er, Poland’s largest and most diverse festival, kicked off earlier this week (July 1). Florence And The Machine, David Byrne, Halsey, Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Kneecap, Calvin Harris, The xx and more have already performed at Gdynia-Kosakowo Airfield and last night, The Cure headlined the third day.

During the band’s two-and-a-half hour headline set, The Cure dusted off ‘Treasure’, a rarely-played deep cut from 1996’s ‘Wild Mood Swings’ which has only been performed a handful of times in recent years. “The next song is one that we don’t play that much,” singer Robert Smith told the crowd. The chamber rock ballad about loss, inspired by the poem Remember by Christina Rosetti, sparked a brief section of ‘Wild Mood Swings’ songs, with ‘Want’ following directly on.

Fan-favourite tracks ‘Trust’, ‘Charlotte Sometimes’ and ‘Prayers For Rain’ were also performed as part of The Cure’s headline set at Open’er Festival, after making sporadic appearances elsewhere during the band’s ongoing European festival run. “I knew we shouldn’t have played ‘Prayers For Rain’,” joked Smith when it started to rain during the final minutes of their set.

The Cure’s headline slot at Open’er Festival featured a career-spanning set organised into moods and eras. Lighter pop sections included a run of ‘Push’, ‘In Between Days’ and ‘Just Like Heaven’ as well as their famously upbeat encore of ‘The Walk’, ‘The Lovecats’ and ‘Friday I’m In Love’. “It’s a good time to play this one,” Smith said before ‘Friday…’, pulling his hood up against the rain. Elsewhere there were sections dominated by early proto-goth songs ‘Play For Today’ and ‘A Forest’ and, at the end of the main set, 1989’s ‘Disintegration’ album.

The Cure’s Open’er Festival setlist was:

‘Plainsong’
‘Pictures Of You’
‘High’
‘A Night Like This’
‘Lovesong’
‘Want’
‘Burn’
‘Fascination Street’
‘alt.end’
‘Push’
‘Just Like Heaven’
‘Trust’
‘Charlotte Sometimes’
‘Play For Today’
‘A Forest’
‘From The Edge Of The Deep Green Sea’
‘Prayers For Rain’
‘Disintegration’
‘Lullaby’
‘Wrong Number’
‘The Walk’
‘The Lovecats’
‘Friday I’m In Love’
‘Boys Don’t Cry’

Last month, Robert Smith revealed The Cure are done with a follow-up to 2024’s ‘Songs For A Lost World’ while another “poppy” album is also being worked on. Smith recently teamed up with Olivia Rodrigo for ‘What’s Wrong With Me’. It came after Smith said he’d “enjoyed a couple of memorable nights in the studio” with Rodrigo earlier this year, following his appearance as part of her headline slot at Glastonbury 2025.

“I can’t believe this song exists with the person that it exists with,” Rodrigo said of the collaboration. “I’m just so fucking over the moon […] I feel like I’m gonna cry. I can’t believe that’s a thing that happened in the real world and not just a figment of my imagination.”

Smith also features on The Rolling Stones’ upcoming album ‘Foreign Tongues, contributing guitar on ‘Divine Intervention’ and providing synth and backing vocals on ‘Never Wanna Lose You’.

Open’er Festival ends today (July 4) with a pop-heavy line-up headlined by JENNIE with Peggy Gou, JADE, PinkPantheress, Addison Rae, Teddy Swims and more set to perform.
