TLC’s Chilli denies she’s a Trump supporter

Rozonda ‘Chilli’ Thomas of TLC has denied claims that she is part of the MAGA movement.

Public records reportedly showed the singer donated to Donald Trump’s campaign in 2024, prompting her to shared a message on Instagram clarifying her political stance.

“I want to be clear: I am not MAGA and do not support any of the many policies that are causing great harm to the American people,” she began in her post.

“I made a mistake too many make: I did not read the fine print. I thought I was supporting causes against human trafficking and for veterans,” she continued, “Two things I care deeply about, as my dad is a veteran and everyone knows I love children. I have learned a valuable lesson and ask for grace as I navigate this. Love, Chilli.”

Federal donation records viewed by People magazine show Thomas donated a total of nearly $900 (£680) to WinRed, the payment processor for Republican campaign donations in 2024.

In the same Instagram post, Thomas also shared a video of herself in which she clarified the reposting of a conspiracy theory related to former first lady Michelle Obama. The singer said she didn’t even realise she had reshared the post and had no intention of doing so.

“Let me say this first: I have the utmost respect and admiration for Michelle Obama, and I would never say or do anything that is disrespectful to her or to any woman,” she continued. “I would never do that.”

TLC formed in 1990 and is one of the best-selling female acts of all time, known for hits including Waterfalls and No Scrubs. The group originally consisted of Thomas, Tionne ‘T-Boz’ Watkins and the late Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes.
