LCD Soundsystem have played their 2005 song ‘Too Much Love’ for the first time in 14 years – watch footage below.

The James Murphy-led group concluded a 12-date residency at the Knockdown Center in Queens, New York on Saturday night (December 13), and for the final three nights of the stint, they dusted off the track from their self-titled debut album for the first time since 2011.

In among a set that included music from across their celebrated career – including the first two parts of their 2006 composition ‘45:33’ – they opened their encore with ‘Too Much Love’, before rounding out the set with ‘North American Scum’, ‘Dance Yrself Clean’, ‘New York I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down’ and ‘All My Friends’.

LCD Soundsystem’s Queens residence is their first run of shows since their co-headline shows with Pulp at the Hollywood Bowl in September. The two bands teamed up for a version of Heaven 17’s 1981 synthpop classic ‘(We Don’t Need This) Fascist Groove Thang’ at the dates.

The release of ‘X-Ray Eyes’ in October last year was thought to be the first taste of LCD Soundsystem’s next album, which was initially reported to be set for release at some point in 2025. Murphy later shared an update on the upcoming record, saying: “Don’t ask me when that is, because we are still working on it. But it feels very good to be putting out new music.”
