Wolf Alice talk The Last Dinner Party and Harry Styles at the BRITs 2026

Wolf Alice talk The Last Dinner Party and Harry Styles at the BRITs 2026

Wolf Alice have spoken to NME at the BRITs 2026 about working with Harry Styles, and enlisting The Last Dinner Party for their huge upcoming London show. Watch our interview in full above.

The North London band caught up with us on the red carpet last night (Saturday February 28) at Manchester’s Co-op Live Arena, shortly before they won the Best British Group award for the second time in their career, and gave a powerful speech in support of UK grassroots venues.

The latest win comes following a huge amount of praise for their fourth studio album ‘The Clearing’, which was released last summer. It was their first since 2021’s ‘Blue Weekend’, and went on to see them perform a huge slot at Glastonbury 2025.

Asked whether they could feel that the album was going to be a huge success when they were recording it, bassist Theo Ellis revealed that they were actually feeling a mix of being “worried, nervous and excited”, particularly as they went outside of their comfort zone for album four.

“We tried to push ourselves quite a lot with this record,” he shared, also describing their latest run of tour dates as one of their “top tier” highlights as a band”.

“I don’t think we knew what was going to happen at all, but that’s part of the excitement and the fear of constantly making music and developing as a band. But we’re really happy and we’ve had some amazing experiences.”

Looking towards their upcoming show at London’s Finsbury Park – their biggest headline concert to date, taking place on July 5 – drummer Joel Amey shared that one of the things he was most proud of was being able to curate the stacked line-up for the gig, which includes The Last Dinner Party, Lykke Li, Rachel Chinouriri, Keo and Florence Road.

“I’m very excited. I’m not nervous yet, but it has got an amazing line-up. Its a dream come true to play there, so we’re very happy,” he said, while singer Ellie Rowsell chimed in and explained how they selected the support acts: “We went to see The Last Dinner Party in LA when we were there, and they put on such a fantastic show.”

Guitarist Joff Oddie continued: “Someone said to us ‘You should ask The Last Dinner Party’ and we went ‘No they’ll never do it’ — but we are so happy that they are because they’re amazing. They’re one of the best live bands. They’re so tight, so musical.”

“They have two great records as well,” added Ellis, referring to their 2024 breakthrough ‘Prelude To Ecstasy’ and 2025’s ‘From The Pyre’.

“It was so special to be able to choose a line-up that means so much to us as music lovers. We go to their shows, and to be able to curate something like that is really important to us. It’s been really fun,” shared Amey.

Wolf Alice were among the performers at the 2026 BRITs ceremony – taking to the stage for a bold performance of their track ‘The Sofa’ – and joined the stacked list of performers on the night, which included Harry Styles, Olivia Dean, HUNTR/X’s EJAE, Audrey Nuna and REI AMI, Mark Ronson, Alex Warren, Sombr, RAYE, and Rosalía – the latter of which brought out Bjork as a special guest.

For Styles, the set came as his first television performance since announcing new album ‘Kiss All The Time. Disco Occasionally’ and dropping the lead single ‘Aperture’, which he played at the start of the show. The album features backing vocals from Rowsell, and when asked about working with the global superstar, she shared what it meant to her to take part in the new release.

“I was chuffed to be able to go to his studio and listen to some of his songs and put down some harmonies,” she said. “It was a real pleasure. I actually haven’t heard the whole album in its entirety yet, so I’m looking forward to it.”

This year’s BRIT Awards was hosted by Jack Whitehall and marked the first time in the 46-year history that the ceremony was held outside of London.

It saw Noel Gallagher named as Songwriter of the Year, PinkPantheress as Producer Of The Year, and Ozzy Osbourne was honoured with the BRITs Lifetime Achievement Award following his passing last summer.

For the latter Robbie Williams performed some his songs alongide members of the Prince Of Darkness’ band, including Adam Wakeman, Robert Trujillo, Tommy Clufetos and Zakk Wylde.

Olivia Dean took home the most awards on the night, including Album of the Year with ‘The Art Of Loving‘. Check out the full list of winners here.
