Neil Young is back in the studio writing songs about “the worst president in the history of our country”

Neil Young is channeling his anger at the Trump administration into a new album as he has revealed he is currently in the studio.

In an update shared to his Neil Young Archives, he said he felt “so hurt for this country”, denouncing Donald Trump as “the worst president in the history of our country”.

“Politics today is sad and depressing for me. I can’t do it anymore. I can go out and demonstrate my feelings about it. We have the worst president in the history of our country. Every day a bad TV show produced by DJT is what we get,” he wrote.

In spite of this, he said music was bringing him more joy. “Now, thankfully, once again, I’m in the studio recording a new album with the Chrome Hearts. I love the songs and the feelings of life and love. Music is. So far we have eight new songs. They make me feel.”

Young has been a longtime critic of Trump and wrote an editorial urging Americans to “rise up” in the wake of the Minnesota ICE shooting in January.

In a new op-ed on his website, the musician shared a post titled “It’s ICE Cold Here in America”, in which he took aim at the growing civil unrest in the country, which he sees as a result of the President’s “inept government” and lack of “conscience”.

“Wake up, people!” he wrote. “Today the USA is a disaster. Donald Trump is destroying America bit by bit with his staff of wannabes, people with no experience or talent, closet alcoholic wife beaters, inexperienced leaders who only know how to lie to keep favor with Trump’s falseness so they can hold their unearned positions in his inept government, a Congress full of Republicans acting like idiots with no conscience.

“He has divided us. How did we elect these creeps who have no spin, no values, no conscience, no way to save the USA.”

“We need to take Trump at his word,” Young continued. “Make America Great Again. It won’t be easy while he is trying to turn our cities into battlegrounds so he can cancel our elections with marshal law and escape all accountability.”

“Something has to change this. We know what to do. Rise up. Peacefully in millions. Too many innocent people are dying.”

Young recently gifted his entire music catalogue to the people of Greenland for free, while hitting out at Amazon, Jeff Bezos and Donald Trump after the President threatened to annex the Arctic island.

He even joined Joan Baez, Bernie Sanders, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez at the “Fighting Oligarchy” tour, where he performed songs live in opposition to the president.

In addition, he shared a song criticising Trump called ‘Big Crime’, where he hit out at the Republican party leader, and he also told his fans earlier this year that Trump was “out of control” and “we need a real president”.

More recently, Young cancelled his entire UK and European tour and said “this is not the time” to be playing shows.

He later provided some clarity on his reasons for axing the tour. Replying to a fan who was checking “everything is OK”, Young wrote: “All is good Michael. Just needed a break. Listening to my body.”
