Drake leads midweek race for seventh UK Number 1 single with Make Them Cry

Drake leads midweek race for seventh UK Number 1 single with Make Them Cry

Canadian rap superstar Drake is on track to secure his seventh UK Number 1 single with “Make Them Cry,” according to the Official Chart First Look. The track, which serves as the opening number for his surprise new album ICEMAN, has taken an early lead in the standings, threatening to disrupt the chart-dominating run of Sam Fender and Olivia Dean.

The surge comes after the Toronto artist blindsided the music industry by dropping an unprecedented three full-length studio albums simultaneously: ICEMAN, HABIBTI, and MAID OF HONOUR. If “Make Them Cry” maintains its momentum until Friday’s final whistle, Drake will elevate his chart legacy to tie with music royalty like Michael Jackson on seven UK Number 1 singles. The rapper is also poised for a historic week across the board, with two additional tracks from the same project, “National Treasures” and “Dust,” currently tracking for a Top 5 finish at Number 3 and Number 4 respectively.

Drake’s explosive entry has pushed the collaborative force of Sam Fender and Olivia Dean into second place. Their hit duet “Rein Me In” begins the week just behind the Canadian star, fresh from breaking chart records as the longest-running male-female duet at the top spot.

Further down the preliminary rankings, American singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams is making moves toward her third Top 10 single. Her new track “Hit The Wall”—which offers the first taste of her highly anticipated third album, Daughter from Hell, arriving this July—currently sits comfortably at Number 8.

The midweek data also predicts significant upward movement for electronic music heavyweights. Calvin Harris and Jazzy’s collaborative track “Satisfy” is forecasted to leap 19 spots to break into the Top 40 for the first time at Number 34, while Stella Lefty’s “Boston” continues its steady climb to land at Number 30. Finally, rock legends The Rolling Stones are eyeing a fresh Top 40 entry, with their latest single “In The Stars” hovering at Number 36 following the premiere of its new music video.
