Shakira shatters records: Over half a million tickets sold for historic European residency

Madrid is bracing for a cultural earthquake as global icon Shakira makes history, selling over 500,000 tickets in record time for her upcoming European residency.

The demand for the Colombian superstar has been nothing short of “inevitable.” In just a few hours, fans snapped up every available seat, instantly establishing the run as Europe’s biggest residency of 2026. To meet this unprecedented fervor, Shakira has added two final dates on October 10 and 11, bringing the total celebration to 11 massive nights this fall.

A New Landmark: Shakira Stadium

Produced by Live Nation Spain, the residency introduces an international format never before seen in the country. The shows will take place at the Shakira Stadium, a bespoke, large-scale temporary venue integrated into Iberdrola Music. Designed by the world-renowned architecture firm BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group), the immersive space boasts a capacity for over 50,000 fans per night, featuring cutting-edge acoustics and 360-degree visibility to ensure every guest feels the “language of the rhythm.”

More Than a Concert: “Es Latina”

The residency is envisioned as an ephemeral city within Madrid. Under the curation of Shakira herself, the site will host Es Latina, a vibrant cultural festival. This “transnational community” will come alive through:

Art exhibitions and literary workshops
Curated gastronomy and film screenings
Talks celebrating Latin resilience and creativity

A Year of Global Dominance

This milestone follows a historic spring for the artist. On March 1, Shakira drew a staggering 400,000 fans to a free concert in Mexico City’s Zócalo—the largest crowd in the square’s history. These achievements solidify the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour as the highest-grossing tour ever by a Hispanic artist.

Before arriving in Spain, Shakira will headline the legendary Todo Mundo No Rio concert at Copacabana Beach on May 2. From her Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nomination to her recent GRAMMY® win for Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, Shakira continues to prove that her music is a testament to strength and global unity.
