Yaya Bey Announces New Album Fidelity

Yaya Bey is back with a new album. Fidelity, the Brooklyn-based singer’s fourth LP, lands April 17 on Drink Sum Wtr, and she’s shared the touching first single for the LP. “I wrote it when I was rock bottom coming off the heels of Do It Afraid.” Bey said of “Blue.” “I realized I had to make a big shift mentally and emotionally or I was gonna drown.” Watch the music video for it below.

Fidelity delves into Bey’s experience with grief following the death of her father, Juicy Crew member Grand Daddy I.U., as well as the loss of Black community due to the widespread gentrification of New York. The record also explores necessary renewal in the aftermath of heartache, as well as her commitment to remaining “religiously joyful” as society crumbles.
